As a small business owner, I try to be as honest as I can about what will work best for you based on my previous experience and insight I am currently seeing across the industry for a destination. Take Rome as an example; I will always try to steer you away from going to Rome in peak summer periods (better for the city, your experience and your wallet). I have a wealth of knowledge and expertise across many destinations and am always getting feedback from clients ready for the next enquiry that lands on my desk. And don't forget, if there is a destination I don't know much about that you want to go to, I can consult with my team members and fellow travel agents including my community of over 2K Travel Counsellors! I know from experience how stressed you can feel t I know from experience how stressed you can feel travelling with your baby for the first time and I am so happy to help families feel more excited about their trips! A lot of people think a travel agent just books flights and accommodation and that's it. But when I am booking a family holiday (particularly with young children), me and my team are looking at car seats for transfers, emailing the hotel to check on baby amenities, helping advise on infant luggage requirements and anything to help make the experience better. I’ve had a lot of enquiries for Australia on my de I’ve had a lot of enquiries for Australia on my desk recently. But what is particularly interesting is that they don’t seem to be just for Sydney and Melbourne mainly anymore… I’ve always been a Melbourne gal at heart. I lived there for two years (when I could have lived anywhere on the East Coast with my job at the time). I have family and great friends there including old housemates from London and just love the vibe. For me it’s one of my happy places and I feel so at home there ❤️ This was me at a winery last November with pals (not pictured) whilst my cousin and aunty babysat Layna. How lucky am I to have childcare the other side of the world?! I also love Sydney - we spent some time there in November and Newcastle too and saw some of our closest friends and it really is irresistible. But what I’m noticing is that people are also looking at places like Perth, particularly the Coral Coast, Margaret River and Adelaide. Personally, Tasmania is still on my list as haven’t been able to get there yet! But hopefully I will one day 🌍 I think it’s great to see clients look at alternative destinations that may suit them better and likely have less visitor numbers. Australia is huge and has something to offer everyone. It was World Elephant Day yesterday 🐘 This video It was World Elephant Day yesterday 🐘 This video was captured on my safari in South Africa at Pilanesberg National Park back in November 2024 and honestly it was such a peaceful moment. The whole jeep stopped and stared every time we saw these beautiful animals (and others!) You can see the jeeps kept their distance and they didn’t try and get any closer when they saw the wildlife walking towards our direction. THIS is the type of animal interaction I book for my clients - the scenery is the main draw and the animals are a bonus. No touching, washing or feeding and viewing them from a distance letting them do their thing 💚 I loved my time in SA and always enjoy booking trips that include safari for my clients. Life has been busy as of late - and not just work- Life has been busy as of late - and not just work-wise with the business but all of the usual sort of things that keep your days filled when you have an (almost) 18 month old! I’ll be honest, it’s hard sometimes to find motivation to work on the business and not just in it but today I’ve been reflecting on the last four years since I started Purpose Travel. This photo was taken in November 2022 on our honeymoon in Vietnam. We had an epic four week trip - travelling from the North to the South and a beach stay on Phu Quoc island! This part of the trip was on the Mekong Delta which is beautiful and worthy of a few days of relaxation after exploring. I had just left the world of creative agencies behind and the client services director job I was good at! I was planning to head in to the business full time when we got back and I remember being so scared of whether anyone would trust me for their own honeymoons and holidays. After a couple of very small bookings with family and friends - I remember things started to get busier around March 2023. It definitely took a while to land new clients and get bigger bookings but now apart from a few quiet periods here and there, I’ve not looked back! I have planned a few trips to Vietnam since then (not as many as I would like), but also MANY honeymoons for couples that don’t want to sit in a resort the whole time and want to experience the destinations they are visiting. I have booked honeymoons to Malta, Greece and Iceland and to further flung places such as South Africa, USA, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. I do still book beach resorts but it’s usually as part of the trip rather than the whole trip! I never set out to be a honeymoon specialist but I do love helping couples plan. I always try and think about how much I looked forward to our trip after a busy season of wedding planning so building a bit of a relax into the itinerary as well as things to tick off the list ✅ So if you’re looking for a honeymoon or even just a romantic trip away do send me a message. I felt so much relief when I was sent through this I felt so much relief when I was sent through this photo of my client @madams3213 and her friends having a lovely time in Turkey 🇹🇷 at Club Tuana in Fethiye with their kids (not pictured) The reason for my relief is that there are reports of wildfires nearby and my heart was in my mouth when I messaged Mel to check all was okay Now of course, the situation is awful with fires raging in Turkey, Greece and of course other countries in Europe. My thoughts are with all those affected and in travel we unfortunately are used to dealing with all sorts of natural disasters. In this case all I could do from my desk was: 💚 Message my client to check in with them 💚 Call the tour operator and ask for updates 💚 Ask them if the hotel had spoken to them (they had and said they have no cause for concern) I am monitoring the situation and receiving updates from my head office and if me or my team need to act and keep calling the tour operator for what is happening then we will do At times like this it’s really important for my clients to know someone is available to help for any advice or dealing with the calls and updates and FCDO advice I know with this tour operator if anything happens they have a duty of care to look after them - source alternative accommodation, transfers to the new accommodation, new flights if needed etc So please, if you aren’t booking your holiday with a reputable travel agent then do book a fully protected package (flights and accommodation), with a proper tour operator that has to look after you if things go wrong. I plan honeymoons - A LOT! It’s one of the types I plan honeymoons - A LOT! It’s one of the types of holidays I specialise in and I love doing it. I’ve booked clients to worldwide destinations - from stunning tropical escapes, action and adventure filled trips, rail journeys and more. But even though I personally have never been to Iceland (this needs to change!) it’s somewhere that I often book clients for short-haul honeymoons with a difference. The lovely @typhanie.jade27 and @auger_emily will be heading there next month after their wedding. When I left my Client Services Director role back When I left my Client Services Director role back in 2022, I stepped away from the creative agency world and wondered how I could replicate the relationships you have with clients that build up over time which was my favourite part of the job! When you work on projects over months or you have retained 'accounts' you step into a bit of an easy rhythm which you often don't have when you are booking holidays for someone for the first time. You also have different team members helping you build recommendations when you're at an agency and so there is a bit more confidence sometimes in giving your opinion. I have to say, I did miss this rapport for a little while - I am a people person after all! I would say it has taken a few years, but now I have some incredible regular clients who I know very well and I have so much more confidence in recommending what I think is best for them. So when I receive reviews like this, it is all worth it. Turns out B2B account management can be a good grounding for running a B2C travel agency! When I get to know clients over time I am getting to know everything from: 💚 Their absolute non-negotiables: such as if they need any special assistance with boarding aircraft, they have walking difficulties or allergies/dietary requirements, don't want long transfer times etc 💚Their nice to haves: such as the 'vibe' for accommodation - do they want a large resort with lots of facilities, a villa for spending as much time together as possible or a boutique hotel close to the action 💚Their ideal things - is there a kids club that their child(ren) will actually want to go to, a 'hidden' beach nearby or an experience like a cooking class which will get them more acquainted with their destination So if you like the idea of talking to someone about your travel plans and receiving tailored recommendations then send me a message on here.
